“God desires all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.”
—1 Timothy 2:4
“God is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”
—2 Peter 3:9

OUR SEPARATION FROM GOD

Behold, the LORD'S hand is not so short that it cannot save; Neither is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.
Isaiah 59:1-2
What comes between me and God?
What does it mean to be separated from God?
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
What do we earn for our sin?
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’ “
Matthew 7:21-23
Why were these turned away from heaven? Is this fair?
What is the result if we do not deal with our sins?
What comes between us and God? Can we be saved in this condition?

BEING RECONCILED TO GOD

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only this, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Romans 5:8-11
What does it mean to be “reconciled’?
What did Jesus do that allowed us to be reconciled to God?
What is taken away that used to separate us from God? How is it taken away? How does that reconcile us to God?
In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us.   Ephesians 1:7-8

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” John 14:6
If we want to be reconciled to God, what is the only way to do it?
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Ephesians 2:8-10

What is needed along with grace for us to be saved?
Can we be saved without God’s grace (by ourselves)?

MY PART IN MY SALVATION

And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
Acts 2:38
What is taken away that used to separate us from God? How is it taken away?
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.
Romans 6:1-7

Am I required to change the way I live in order to be saved?
What does it mean to "die to sin"?
What event marks the change from a life of sin to a life with God?
How does he describe our lives prior to this event? After this event?
For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Galatians 3:26-27
How do we become sons of God?
What will we do if we have faith?
